Our Privacy Policy

It is our policy to protect the information we have about our members, visitors to our website, and voters in Franklin County. We do not sell or give information about individuals to anyone for any reason, except as required by law. We do occasionally provide statistics, voting trends, and other non-identifying information about voters to organizations sympathetic to Democratic values.

Occasionally, we are asked by candidates, campaigns and other organizations to send material or emails to voters and members. It is our policy to send such materials on behalf of organizations rather than provide our mailing lists to anyone.

Information we collect

Voter information is collected during elections from public records and by Precinct Committee Officers. This information is used to help us organize events, identify who is likely to volunteer, and seek financial support for Democratic candidates.

Occasionally we gather information from surveys and mailings. This information may include identifying information, which we use to help us identify those who are sympathetic to key Democratic positions. This identifying information is covered by our privacy policy and not shared with anyone for any reason.

We collect information about visitors to our website and use of our email lists. This information is only used to detect and prosecute illegal activities, such as attempts to steal our data, damage our servers or other abuses of the electronic systems.

If you suspect privacy violations or abuse

If you suspect that your privacy has been violated or that someone has abused our systems, please send all pertinent facts to David Chassin. We will investigate all reports and act to the extent permitted by law.

Applicability of the Patriot Act of 2001

It is not clear to us whether the Patriot Act of 2001 gives Federal law enforcement agencies the power to subpeona the Franklin County Democratic Central Committee's records, but it seems that the FBI does have that authority. If we were to receive such a request for records, the law includes a provision making it a crime for us to disclose that fact to anyone.
